CrossFit Sunnyside: We’re a Hyrox Training Center, and Hyrox Workouts Start This Week!

Big news, CrossFit Sunnyside family! I’m thrilled to announce that we are now an official Hyrox Training Center. This is an exciting step for our box, and it’s a testament to the versatile, badass fitness we’ve been building together. At CrossFit Sunnyside, we’re all about preparing you for any challenge—whether it’s in the gym, in life, or on a competition course. That’s why we’re leaning into Hyrox as a way to test and showcase the skills we develop through CrossFit. And starting this Thursday, we’re adding Hyrox-inspired workouts to our weekly programming to help you get race-ready while complementing our core CrossFit approach.

For those who haven’t heard of Hyrox, it’s a fitness race that combines eight functional exercise stations—like sled pushes, wall balls, and burpees—with 1km runs between each. It’s a grueling test of endurance, strength, and mental toughness, but it’s built on movements we already know and love in CrossFit. While Hyrox is a different flavor than our constantly varied programming, it’s a fantastic way to put your fitness to the test in a competitive, measurable format. As a Hyrox Training Center, we’re here to help you prep for these events with the same intensity and community spirit you bring to every class.

Starting this Thursday, we’re rolling out Hyrox-inspired workouts once a week. These sessions will lean into endurance-focused training, blending longer metcons with movements straight out of the Hyrox playbook. Think sleds, carries, and high-rep bodyweight exercises, all designed to build the stamina and pacing you need for a race. These workouts aren’t about replacing our CrossFit programming—they’re a complement to it. Our regular classes will continue to develop your strength, power, and all ten domains of fitness (strength, endurance, stamina, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy). The Hyrox sessions are an extra tool to sharpen your engine and get you ready to crush a race or just push your limits.

What makes this so exciting is how well Hyrox aligns with what we do at CrossFit Sunnyside. Our training already builds well-rounded athletes who can tackle anything. Been hitting our strength cycles? You’re ready for those heavy sled pushes. Grinding through our metcons? You’ve got the lungs for wall balls and burpees. Our conditioning work? That’s your foundation for the running. Hyrox is a chance to take the fitness you’ve built in the box and show it off on a bigger stage. And because we’re a Hyrox Training Center, you’ll have our coaches’ expertise to guide you, whether you’re eyeing your first race or aiming to set a personal record.

Hyrox is also a great way to celebrate our community. While it’s an individual race, we’re all about tackling challenges together. Picture your CrossFit Sunnyside crew cheering you on at a Hyrox event or training alongside you during our Thursday workouts. That shared energy is what makes our gym special, and it’s going to carry over to every rep and every kilometer you conquer. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned athlete, we’ll scale these Hyrox-inspired workouts to meet you where you are, just like we do in every class.
